About Fenugreek
Fenugreek is a cool-to-warm annual grown two ways: as a quick microgreen or as a dry-seed spice crop. Do not mix up the calendars.
When to Plant
Direct-sow after frost. For microgreens, sow indoors any time.
How to Plant
Seed crop: sow ¼ inch deep, 4 inches apart, full sun. Microgreens: dense sow on a tray, harvest at 5–7 days. Box germination of 7–10 days is for soil-sown seed; soaked seed for microgreens pops in 1–3 days.
When to Harvest
Microgreens: snip at 2–3 inches. Seed crop: 120–150 days, harvest dry pods before they shatter, then thresh. Leaves of young plants can be cooked as a green (methi).
